Wyot I don't think Israel has a grand plan beyond destroying hamas - at least that the US supports.

I think the US want it to stop now actually; but don't politically know how to go about this without fatally undermining Israel. Biden seems to lack strength here more than anything. I hope he finds some very soon.

As for Israel, how on earth will any of this make their people safer long term? It is just death, death, death followed by the creation of more generations of haters and murderers.

Hamas has rightly been condemned for provoking Israel in a way that would guarantee that many thousands of Palestinians are killed; but longer term Israel by their excessive violence are doing exactly the same thing to ordinary Israeli's.
hedda if it's difficult to understand Israel's tactics backed by the US in Gaza remember that it took 20 years, 2 trillion dollars, and 4 US presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban in Iraq.
