Hearing loss and tinnitus happens naturally also. I noticed my hearing going in the early 90's when I was in 20's due to MSG gigs, Ted Nugent and the Sony Walkman.

Gen Z are doing nothing different then what Gen X were doing. I have noticed gigs are not loud as there years ago due to health and safety guards on decibels. When I booked pub bands for my old boozer; I had a visit from suits, to measure how loud the bands were playing.
