I don't believe the extreme depictions of police either.
I am sure many decent officers and senior officers are appalled by all this. Sorry, but it is too simple to depict all Police as "corrupt" or "scum". Although clearly, some are. Perhaps many. I have no idea; but hope not.
I am though appalled by the incompetence - or indifference - involved in allowing this man to join and remain. |

Seen these? www.channel4.com/programmes/to-catch-a-copper
I caught one of the programmes, which included a couple of police officers who'd treated a mentally ill woman with contempt and no respect for her dignity. They weren't disciplined, but were given a "talking to" by their superior, i.e. a friendly chat where the superior showed sympathy for them and basically said he'd have done the same himself. Another police officer faced a disciplinary hearing for having sex with a vulnerable woman in his police car when on duty, but was let off with a medical discharge on a full pension after claiming to have PTSD from being a police officer. |

People only seem to be cops for the power trip and badge, not to protect and help people.
This morning Hedda, I saw a copper who dressed like she was going to some sort of Oi punk band. I jokingly said to my partner 'Is that how you dressed on the beat?' My partner can't believe how low the bar is now set to be a copper these days.
Wayne Couzens knew the right people and no doubt did some dodgy shit with corrupt officers to keep his job, a lot of police officers help themselves to the evidence room and it's not surprising to hear that a lot of coppers have recreational drug problems.
My postie dresses like he either just got out of prison or he is off to see a football match with a bunch of hooligans. |
