I wouldn't go that far (Rain Man e.g) but am glad I am not alone in my measurement of his acting skills. I can't tell his characters apart in any films I have seen, anyway.
Green Man
Scientology is pretty much dead and it's funny seeing them in Southampton trying to get new members.
People mark the cult on the census as their religion as a joke, I do it all the time.

I reckon he's an OK guy apart from being a superb actor who has not been recognized by his peers properly.
If been an ok guy is promoting a damaging cult that bankrupts people, breaks up families, and destroys peoples live.
He tried to get the Beckhams into Scientology, also Steven Spielberg, Penelope Cruz, and Will Smith. All of which he failed to do.
I think Cruise has mainly been a stuntman in the last 20 years or so rather than been an actor. I've never seen any film with him in that was in any way thought provoking.

My life with Tom Cruise
I was with a paparazzi pal when we followed Tom Cruise as he left the Sydney house he was living in at the time.
Tom pulled over to the kerb and walked back to us and basically pleaded with us to give him space and leave him alone..which we did.
A few days later I had another pal ring me and ask .."i think I'm going mad ..did I hallucinate when driving into Kings Cross and saw Tom Cruise talking to you by the side of the road"?
Another time I saw a bunch of paparazzi outside a top Thai Restaurant and stopped to join them knowing a celebrity was inside. After 30 minutes a waiter came and said "Tom wants you to have a table inside and have dinner on him" which we happily did.
I also crashed a party he was hosting in a pub and had a game of pool with him
I reckon he's an OK guy apart from being a superb actor who has not been recognized by his peers properly.
epilogue:
## outside the Thai restaurant was a smattering of autograph hunters who used to annoy us in the media as they always got in the way.
Among them was a now ex-cop sensationally accused of murdering two gay men in Sydney recently.
The chef at the superb Thai restaurant who Tom was a fan of now has a Thai restaurant in Bangkok and is the master of the Dusit catering school in Bangkok.
His food was the best I've ever tasted and he told me once that his recipes are not like other Thai food but are recipes that were used exclusively by the Thai aristocracy for aeons

Given how big Cruise is it must be me I suppose, but I find him very off putting in any film. I think he is the same non character (with his twitchy vain ways) in every film I have seen him in. Puts me to sleep.
