Al Boots was a neighbour of mine, but known to many people as Alfred (Greengrass's dog) in the TV series Heartbeat. He was the second dog to play the role, and he stayed for around 8 years until he became stiff and hard of hearing. I'm not sure what age he reached, but he had a fairly full and happy life.
