Reform have the only solution but it won't happen that is leave ECHR.
Tories, have said it will happen.
Another distraction.
The vast majority of asylum seekers have an identifiable nationality. The ECHR does not prevent the Government legally deporting these failed asylum seekers.
As with everything else, they are just highly incompetent at it.
The issue with Rwanda is that it is not deemed "safe". Otherwise the ECHR does not prevent us using it. But regardless, if the Government patrolled borders effectively and deported illegal asylum seekers effectively, this would not be an issue at all.
The Tories and Farage just play people for fools; for cheap political points. And in Sunak's case to distract from Government incompetence.
What better distraction method to use than tapping into the existential fears of foreign incursion in the minds of so many islanders?
I agree to some extent Wyot.
However we can't accept everyone. The UK don't have enough houses, land, school places, prisons, jobs. I can't believe that the only the Tories can do is house immigrants in hotels or B&B's at our expenses.
I agree GM I just think that talk of Rwanda and leaving the ECHR etc is a distraction from the fact that they are not effectively enforcing and running deportation for illegals.
It is no more mysterious than pot holes in the road or getting an NHS dentist: this Government can't run anything effectively, and will talk any bollocks to get us not to realise this.
So what's the point in governments then? Oh, yeah none. |

In theory Scotland could use an island to process migrants, but we still can't deport them.
The French are happy because they stay in France just waiting for the next rubber boat to come along and take them to the UK.
Just wait when those who can afford to leave the UK do. The rich are leaving NYC in their droves which is now leaving a tax deficit. |

Indeed, Wyot. There is enough trouble in life without deliberately seeking more of it, so I tend to just pop in and see if people are ok.
Glad to hear you will still be popping in Honey; your dry take on the world often makes me smile. |
