Sporting talent should not be based on the short attention spans of spectators. Stamina and ability to come back (perfect example - Novak) make tennis fantastic at 5 sets.

In non grand slam events, both mens and women's tennis are the best of 3 sets, and quite rightly so. There is little appetite for 5 sets in smaller tournaments. It tests the patience of the spectators having to watch the same 2 players for upto 5 hours. The doubles events are now reduced to 2 sets in non grand slam events, with a tie-break if its 1 set each. People have short attention spans leave days.

Obviously I rooted for the Italian and in five sets he could have won. Why only two sets? Women I understand - they have no energy and collapse after a couple of tough rallies. But men? No stamina for fewer than 5 sets? Rubbish.
