Al Gershwin Like a good few in the new cabinet, AR didn't come from a privileged background; her mother was illiterate and AR worked as a carer, with little formal education.

Pregnant at 16 - she seems to have had a very strenuous life, before becoming Deputy PM. Can't say I know too many, with similar pedigrees, who made it this far!
