Al Gershwin Fantastic ingenuity, organisation, massive investment and preparation - badly hampered by appalling weather. Unforgettable opening ceremony.

Obviously an advertisement, also - for the French tourist business, showing Paris. Tour de France coverage brought so many of us to visit rural areas; by more helicopters.

Surprising though how much the English media is so quick to point out inevitable problems - caused by a difficult political/security situation and unrelenting rain.

More people visit Paris than any other city (c30m a year) - its buildings and architecture are unrivalled and the nightlife is still unparalleled.
