hedda All rather fun and the various events and entertainment in Paris was colourful if somewhat odd.

The only Olympics I've been to was the Sydney games in 2000.

I was given press passes and could hang out in the Media rooms.

There I met some cameramen from
Canon.

They had huge cameras which they told me were "digital"

They strung a tale I could hardly believe..

that they were going to take pictures out on the fields, races and so on..the images would go onto a disc in the camera which they would download onto a PC & the pics would be sent by telephone to their HQ ready to send around the world before other photographers had got out of bed.

The cameras they said, cost between $50K - $80K to produce after 10s of $Millions in development especially for the Olympics.

Browsing in a camera store yesterday in the infamous Bondi Westfield I saw a lovely handy fist sized camera for $329 which had all the features these miracle cameras had plus endless more fab things to do -video etc, and pixels probably 30,000 times more powerful.

In just 25 years how things change.

I ponder on this when I look at great snap of my father when he was young standing on the running sideboard of his Dad's Ford car in the 1920s and realised, that's really me these days.
