But I understand how genuine victims may desire anonymity in today's society when every newspaper, policeman and "professional" will proclaim that once you are defiled: your life is ruined for all time.
I think survivor is a much better word than victim. But applied - of course - post conviction to not influence jurors.

Thoughtless people including cops and parents repeatedly make this claim and the result is - any future abuse or rape victim is told beforehand, when your ordeal happens your life is "ruined" for all time.
Germaine Greer believes victim anonymity re-enforces this bogus & damaging propaganda when rape victims should be able to screech about their ordeal from the rooftops.
But I understand how genuine victims may desire anonymity in today's society when every newspaper, policeman and "professional" will proclaim that once you are defiled: your life is ruined for all time.
