Topic History of: Elton John - Paul Weller - DISASTER!!!

Rick Elton has sounded like a really bad pub singer since his throat op. It really pains me, having enjoyed his early work. It's just a bit weird it isn't more widely discussed. It's the same of similar singers from his era. The decent ones get the flak, the dodgy ones don't. The middle classes do love to seem 'edgy'. I guess if, like Elton, you call women the C word you get a pass in the UK media. Like Jagger and his obsession for young women and old aristocrats.
JK2006 Absolutely right Robbie - it dawned on me the first traffic jam we joined!
robbiex The obvious question is why didn't you take the cube to the Elton John film rather than an Uber. I remember about 15 years ago when sat-navs were fairly new. I drove from Guildford to Islington using Sat-Nav to guide me. It took 3 hours for about 30 miles. It took me right through central London past picadilly circus. I haven't drived in London since that time.
Green Man And you didn't even go to Soho before or after.
JK2006 Set off yesterday on the Tube to watch BLITZ (with Paul Weller) - turns out the screening is NEXT Saturday. Today took an UBER to the Royal Festival Hall to watch the new Elton movie - left at 10.30 - screening (paid for) was at 11.45. By 12.15 still stuck in traffic near Oxford Street. Came home.
