While MSM are doing their best to blacken his reputation (to justify their current support of terrorists), there is also a different narrative. The BBC interviewed John Simpson who met Assad several times and portrayed him as nice and humble.

Between 1990 and 1994, Bashar al-Assad worked in London as an eye surgeon, where he was described as reserved and intellectual.
His boss and colleagues described him as humble, and nurses praised his ability to reassure anxious patients before anesthesia.
However, his medical career ended when he was summoned back to Syria after the death of his older brother, Basel, in 1994. This event marked the start of his transition into politics as his father's heir. |
