Downing Street Cat Marvellous film. Lean is for me the greatest director of all time. Spielberg? Bah. I also adore his version of Oliver Twist. They definitely don't make em like that anymore.

JK2006 in the start of David Lean's Great Expectations - the camerawork, script, acting, direction, editing, music, casting - everything is perfect. I've never seen better; I've watched it a hundred times and much more since but every time I see it, it stuns me how good it is. Without doubt the finest 20 minutes from the start.
