Topic History of: OLIVER - awful so far Max. showing the last 5 posts - (Last post first)

Watched Heston and recorded Oliver Twist. I agree that Heston's show was superbly Christmassy.
I'm a big Dickens fan and I do love this Oliver Twist, so far. I'm ignoring the politically correct Nancy. In those days, if a white guy had shacked up with a black girl, it would have been so unusual and significant that I think Dickens would have laboured the point. Nancy is definately meant to be white, but that's a minor point. Spall is great as Fagin. William Miller plays Oliver very well, and Sykes is the best since Reed. They've played with the story, but so did the adorable musical version.
I too noticed the way the credits don't match the faces. I found it strange, but I can live with it. |

I wish I'd watched it Mart; I've loved his series (especially the Peking duck one). |
Mart |
Heston was absolutely brilliant on BBC2 last night though.
Finally a Christmas classic that will run and run. |

I knew I was going to hate it when the opening credits had different faces to the names of the players - sloppy editing which indicated someone didn't care. |
