Anthony I actually love the revamped Dr.Who much more than I loved the old version in my childhood, which I was never a fan of, from the point of view of the production and script writing.

However, I do think that Tom Baker's eccentric portrayal of the Doctor was far superior.

Tennant does a good job nonetheless. It's all down to the superficial society we now live in. The protagonist has to be youngish and attractive, you see, in these fickle days.

Keep the new production techniques, and persuade JK to be the new Doctor, and get the best of both worlds!

I quite like David Tennant as The Doctor, although he has to cope with the weakest script writing since the series was concieved back in the 1960s. I prefer Jon Pertwee who, in my opinion, was the ultimate Doctor. I used to think that Sylvestor McCoy was the worst until I saw Chris Eccleston - he's a very good actor, but extremely miscast in the role. Eccleston would have been more suited to The Master, although I think Derek Jacobi played that part menacingly well.

Oh dear...it would seem no-one can agree on the best doctor. LOL. Hate Tennant in the role...I think he is appalling in it.. that shouty shouty cockney twang. Loved Eccles. I thought he was a terrific doctor and a great shame he didn't do another series. Pertwee was great, as was TOM Baker...the worst doctor for me was Colin Baker.

mickeyone I have to say that I am not a big fan of David Tennant as the indestructible Timelord in 'Doctor Who' - I much preferred the dotty Jon Pertwee and the wonderful Tom Baker. David Tennant seems to lack the gravitas and the intensity that makes the Doctor such an endearing and enduring character.
However while I was watching an early episode of Rab C.Nesbit from 1993 on one of the satellite channels, who should pop up as a transvestite barmaid (waiting for the operation) but Mr Tennant, who gave a thouroughly convincing portrayal altho' he failed to convince Rab of his femininity !!
