I recall the IRA bombings so well. I had a very dear pal killed in the Harrods bomb and I heard it from Marble Arch where I was at the time.
I remember being woken up by a car bomb that killed a politician in Holland Park.
The sickening dull thud of a terrorist bomb is unmistakable. I watched as a pal of black smoke rose over Knightsbridge.
It must be awful in Ukraine and Gaza for that matter.
I can't imagine how peace can come unless Ukraine cedes territory to Russia and most likely, recourses.(which is always what wars are waged over) Agree Hedda. Most of us having never experienced a war zone. I haven't. Was still deeply disappointed with Zelensky when he visited Israel and embraced Netanyahu. I do feel that Zelensky needs to think again about Crimea and Putin needs to withdraw and allow Ukraine to join NATO. As I write it might all intensify again as Russian General is blown to bits in car bomb. Zelensky seems to want to draw all of Europe into the conflict. As does Putin of course. Give him Crimea and then he's got to withdraw.

As I've said before peace negotiations means compromise. How do people think the Good Friday Peace Agreement came about? Tough decisions such as releasing convicted terrorists. Not one person killed by IRA terrorism since 97. As soon as the chance for peace rears its head Zelensky asks for more arms. I actually agree with Trump. That doesn't make me feel good. But he's right. Starmer has sent £4.5bn in aid to Zelensky. I am starting to really question his motives. Not sure what he doesn't understand about compromise.
