JC Finally discovered the name of the actress I was referring to. Freda Dowie. Some might remember her as the missing household cook in an episode of Poirot. Her eyes aren't that big really, but they were what I focused on when trying to remember her. She'd be perfect as Miss Marple, and not being a "Big Name" could prove beneficial.
JC There's a wonderful old lady with big eyes who often pops up in murder mysteries, such as Midsomer Murders. She could be a Miss Marple more along the lines of Margaret Rutherford and Joan Hickson. However, I think the TV people are looking for someone more in keeping with their modern image of the stories. Shame really.
HisWestiness I wonder who'll they'll get next? Julie Walters has been mentioned but i hope not, not something she would be good for.
JK2006 That is the magnificent Joan Hickson - the best of the lot.
The next best (and funniest) was Margaret Rutherford.

McEwan was awful, awful, awful.
HisWestiness Which one was the Miss MArple thats always on on UKTV?? I really liked her she was brilliant, she had that condescending tone and look every time the detectives were sniffing about. Like an older Margeret Thatcher
