I had a dream not so long ago that I bumped into Stephen Kinnock MP and quite forcefully asked him what the hell had happened to the type of Labour party his father inherited and led for nearly a decade, a party I felt happy to support and vote for at that time, although the '87 election came the final Thursday before my 18th birthday so I missed that and was almost 23 before I got my first chance at a General, the second that Kinnock as leader fought.

There are hardly any likeable labour MP's or ones that command respect or have gravitas. Almost none. Only Andy Burnham, who at least seems human and grounded and it's no wonder rumours are swirling about him returning as an MP with an eye to the leadership. Possibly Wes if you forced me within the government, or John Healey Defence Secretary who looks more old style solid dependable labour. Even if you didn't vote for a party or have their political beliefs you always used to be able to look at them and see plenty of people within it you thought were okay, competent and honest.

hedda I think some of the benefits MPs get such as electricity and gas paid is outrageous when they deny these for the general public.

And don't get me started on the rorts that the unelected swill in the House of Lords get.

Mind you I'm guilty of visiting once with a pal whose dad was in the Lords and we had a most enjoyable cut price lunch. Now my pal's father has passed and he's picked up his Viscount title he tells me he's never been back to the Lords.
Rich Who's the "scum" now then Angela?

I know Labour promised to do better than the Tories but it wasn't supposed to be with sleaze, hypocrisy and all over mismanagement.

There's a woman in the USA called Lisa Cook just been fired by Trump from the Federal Reserve over claiming two homes as her primary residence on her mortgage papers, a criminal offence. She's refusing to go quietly.
