Had a great night of Sky + telly - Torchwood part 4 which was thoughtful and exciting (Eve Myles is so damned sexy) and of course Ashes to Ashes, which I thought was and could be even deeper than Life on Mars. Loved the George and Zippy bits - totally inspired! |

I much preferred 1973 to 1981.
Unfortunately I missed the 'Ashes to Ashes' but, as is the way of TV, it'll be repeated .. and repeated .. and ... so I'll catch up with it at some point. |

Philip Glenister is so good; I've seen him loads over past weeks - Cranston, Calendar Girls - and every time a totally different acting job.
That's what I love about Gene Hunt - it's a great script and a great actor, rather than someone playing themselves (like most soap stars). |

1981 was the year where I first took a proper interest in music and sports like tennis and football. Also it was the year when my Dad left my mother and I became a very wise grown up 8 year-old.
I also remember your reports on TOTP from USA, counting down the USA charts.
I agree it was a great start, it lacked something from Life on Mars, maybe it was trying too hard. However, I can't fault the acting, and perhaps all will be revealed later on in the show.
I probably would of enjoyed being in my 30's in the 80's more than the present day. |

Great start.
Gene Hunt is Geneious.
1981 seems so recent yet so far away - another world (the era when my "crimes" were meant to have been committed). |
