In The Know The police, in a knee-jerk reaction, are campaigning for us ALL to be listed on their database, and I can see some merit in this (although the police clearly have not thought it through).

With everyone on a database - we simply won't need 95% of the police, will we? Whenever there is a crime a clerical assistant can simply cross-reference the database ... no more detective work required - and no more police !

On the otherhand, having everyone's details to hand will make, err, "solving" those difficult crimes a little easier and quicker?
