Yes, I do recall hearing that Nemo single a LOT on radio as a kid but amazed it didn't chart. In fact, I've never actually encountered a copy of the actual single. Seems to be one of those airplay hits that for some reason or other didn't translate to chart success yet many think it was a hit!
I have you to blame JK for my Mum's party piece... it's singing the song with the words reversed so it comes out like "Eht nus sah tog sih tah no... pih pih pih yarooh!" It sits nicely alongside her Cilla Black, Barry Gibb and Meat Loaf impressions... and those impressions are deadly funny and accurate too!
That "Hit Millionaire" album (where we finally got the song) was a life changing album that my family played heavily, sang along to and generally had great fun with. I'm happy to report that though my parents divorced many years ago, I did rescue that album and still have it complete with that gold flexi. Great album. |

Nice of The Sun to plug one of my old hits on their front page today.
However, it was HIS in my 1970's version - one of my most played singles (under the name NEMO, Latin for No One) but, strangely, never actually a hit.
It sold very well indeed but never charted.
It used to be played on Junior Choice, the old Saturday morning Radio One show, every week for months and months.
And many know it and hum it without realising it is me.
Available though iTunes and Amazon on my 8 CD Box Set.
And the delightful followup (I think) is on EARTH TO KING - Who's Been Polishing The Sun, with Tipster Nathan Jay's lovely video for it on You Tube. |
