JK2006 I think where we disagree here SW is on the meaning of the word "necessary".


To me, a tiny room is fine as living space if that's all you can afford.

I suspect you'd say "no I need a house with 6 rooms so I'll get a mortgage and pay the bank..."

Which is where trubble kicks in.
SW I agree. To be in debt and to continue spending on unnecessary things is not something to be proud of. I too have never been overdrawn.
JK2006 Yes - I don't think it is a cover up nor intentional - I just think "a good story" dominates all other considerations.
Al From what I've seen the massive finacial crash is the main news story on all channels. The Brown debate is much lower down the billing. Not much of a cover up really.
JK2006 And I hate to say it but my comments in another thread (that got me a lot of flak) are coming true.

The basic problem is - we cannot and should not live on debt.

We should only ever spend money we have earned.

I have never, ever, for one day or one week, been overdrawn.
