Dominic Dee I guess there are people who confess to things they have not done, but you'd think there would at least be a retrial considering this other guy's confession.

Jack Straw will be worrying about UK relations with Bulgaria, but he should be most concerned with the fair treatment of his fellow British citizen. I doubt that Bulgaria would make too much of an international incident over one man. That said, I haven't seen much evidence that the current government care very much about any UK citizen.
mikemacca I see Michael Shields is still in prison after Jack Straw has admitted he has no power to release him. This lad has been incarcerated for more than 3 years now for a crime that everybody on the planet knows he didn't commit. Fortunately he was transferred to prison in the UK in 2006. Since another man, Graham Sankey has confessed to the crime, why can't Mr Straw extradite him for trial in Bulgaria or does he not have the power to do that either ?
