The widescreen TV I watch at home is branded, and one I inherited from my father when he died several years ago. It's excellent and does the job very well (albeit it's starting to look a bit dated compared to the plasma and HD TVs you can get now).
My mother bought a TV from Lidl about a year ago for a fraction of the price. I went around her house to take a look and discovered that the graphics and layout when you go to change the picture or sound settings were EXACTLY the same. If anything, her picture was marginally better.
This can only mean that we own the SAME model of television. It looks and feels the same. The difference in cost is due to the badge on the front! |

The thing is with Waitrose and M+S, is all the ready meals etc, which really don`t interest me much. This a pain as I have to cook and chop food a lot to my liking and make it myself. Lidl is great for vegetables, Aldi, I was not so sure about but they both are great at preserved meats like salami etc, which you would pay through the nose for at the aforementioned supermarkets and doubtless get exactly the same producers making the foods.
And you get things like white asparagus really cheap at Lidl, not to everyones taste, but better than snacking on crisps.
People never believe me but it is a fact that all my guitar stands and microphone stands came from Lidl one Christmas! I walked in, did my shopping and bought the entire stock on display of them! (I did not touch the guitars or keyboards on offer though, they were pants!) |

PS
Found this funny but very clever view of what is a good price for gold - it is called the T BONE STEAK INDICATOR FOR GOLD PRICES !!

Hope you are keeping your money safe. Supposedly GOLD BULLION is a good bet at this time and price came down this morning because of the bail out - may be the last chance
We shop at LIDL and have been doing so ( to compliment our M&S / Waitrose shopping ) for over a year now. Some very good products and offers. My sister is 100% ALDI shopper ( A convert from M&S )
The UK supermarkets are built on the same greed as our banks as far as I can see. |

When I was sillier with money,(and probably rather a snob) I used to go to M+S and John Lewis for furnishings etc. The exact same goods, (certainly from John Lewis)do appear in a very cheap shop up the road at a fraction of the price and often , in the case of bookcases etc, already assembled thank god!
We went to Aldi yesterday and I am still smiling about the visit, they make products look just like the "original" only slightly different, they even have the celebrity chef face now as you walk in! Brilliant, talk about taking on the "Mesco" at their own game. Not very bad at all leather jackets either.
Watch that , what would appear a minor shopping chain, grow in this climate as will Lidl.
"Lidl Express" Bring it on Chancellor! Give the people what they want! |
