A key point here, if in the Bayswater area is to mention Whiteleys , when trying to find the place itself, as all of the locals I spoke to, did not have a clue where Cafe Anglais was and the taxi drivers did not either.
I can also taste the espresso so well as well, that they do, fantastic.
The key thing when you leave a food establishment , is a feeling of food balance in ones` body and I certainly have that this evening. |

Entertaining chap here... I promised Mart I was going to say he behaved disgracefully and brought shame on me and our family but actually he was on best behaviour and we had a lovely lunch.
As he says, the hors d'oevres are so magnificent we both had three of them in lieu of a main course, and the bitter chocolate souffle was so incredible it brought gasps of amazement from our next door neighbours and a request for the name so they could order it too.
I cannot recommend the Cafe Anglais strongly enough. If you're in town near Whiteleys, a marvellous place to eat. |

..Very , very good indeed, a great combination of flavours, the parmesan custard is to die for, the fresh anchovies with beetroot are great, but rather too much beetroot, a deep fried root vegetable of which I had to ask the waiter the name of was excellent also.
There are too many flavours to recall at the moment, and I shall be savouring them for quite a while yet.
Bitter chocolate souflee is a wow also, things in ramekins, seem to be their forte, which is great. As a cooking venue, you should stretch yourself to what you can do best.
The lighting is superb in there also, I hate places where you cannot see what you are eating! A restuarant should be proud to show off their food and not hide it in a darkened corner.
I, of course , have no idea of the identity of the entertaining chap who paid the bill, but thanks very much indeed. |
