Solihull Exile Whoever was picked will be grumbled about...by somebody.
Best thing is to let him get on with it...and do our best to enjoy it as much as we have under Tennant.
Al I've been a Doctor Who fan since the 1960s. I just watched the extended BBC interview with Matt Smith and he came across as very suitable for the role. Much about his own character reflects that of The Doctor. There already seems to be a touch of eccentricity about him.

If the writing is good then I think he could take Dr Who back to it's glory days. He just needs to be himself.
BR He looks like an indie rock star to me. He certainly can act - looked him up and he has some serious acting under his belt with some big names.

I have a feeling that along with the change of writer this will take the Doctor on a new tangent - whether that is more MESSIANIC or not we will have to wait and see.
The Cat Just looked him up on imdb and haven't actually seen anything he's been in, so he'll be totally new to me. 26 makes him the youngest actor to play the role. I would have preferred someone older to reflect the age of the character, but so long as he can act I don't really mind. Maybe they are hoping a younger actor will grow with the part and stay for a long time.

I also thought Peter Davidson was too young when he took over, and he was actually quite awful. He could play the part much better if he was picked today.

So, I'll give this bloke a fair chance. A lot depends on the writing, but Stephen Moffat is generally quite good.
JK2006 Well he impressed with Billie Piper in Ruby in the Smoke and has been one of those rank outsider tips.

I think he could be excellent.
