The IRA was not the government of Ireland and so there is a major difference. Hamas is the government in Gaza.
When members of the IRA ran to hide in the Republic of Ireland the government there did not hide or protect them but instead helped us to track them down and bring them to justice.
No comparison really. |

One of my STOP and SEARCH was at KINGS CROSS when I was on my way to a record company meeting in the City.
I expect they recorded it as one of the Anti Terrorist number.
All that happened was that they stopped me for over 30 minutes without giving me a reason and made me late for my meeting. When I offered to open my bag ( which was full of CDs and my diary ) they were not even bothered.
There are loads of reports of photographers being stopped if they take pictures of bridges etc. I remember when I went to the Soviet Union we were told not to take pictures of anything strategic ( airports - junctions - bridges - power plants ) etc because we could be stopped.......
I never thought that would happen in Britain.

THOUSANDS of train spotters are being quizzed as potential terrorists at railway stations across the region, it was revealed yesterday.
Police are accusing enthusiasts of carrying out reconnaissance for a terror attack when they are simply noting down serial numbers and taking photographs of carriages, the Liberal Democrats claimed.
A total of 7,031 people were questioned under antiterrorism powers in 12 months at railway stations in the North-East, according to official figures.
Another 4,039 were targeted using separate “stop and search” (or reasonable grounds) legislation, a further 2,155 under “stop and account”
laws, and 32 using the Criminal Justice Act - taking the total to 13,257.
Last night, Lib Dem transport spokesman Norman Baker condemned the crackdown as “a worrying sign that we are sliding towards a police state”.

I have never travelled on Virgin or East Midland trains. I use the GNER (now National Express) main East Coast London to Edinburgh as well as Transpennine and occasionally the London to Brighton. The London to Brighton has improved since it was recently taken over. The transpennine route is far better than when under nationalisation, as is the main line National Express. |

Thanks David - I know how much these things effect people and therefore I can understand why you posted in such a way. I am trying to limit my posts about the Police State because I am personally effected and therefore may see things from a bias point of view - but I want to point out this article in today's mail.

This article shows that the Police Force has changed. It now accepts people with criminal records.
The interesting part is the near 150 comments by ordinary people. I do suggest you read this through - a combination of ex police and ordinary people nearly all believe that we are in a Police State. They give differing reasons. I dont think any of us know exactly why.
The conspiracy sites believe this is happening in ALL countries and is preparation for a GLOBAL Government and economy at some point in the next few years. I would hope they are wrong or that this can be prevented. |
