giles2008 Its probably more to do with the football World Cup. A couple of the SA cricket grounds are being used for football in 2010. Moving the IPL will give SA a chance to look at security and crowd control in these areas. Then of course there are the superior 5 star hotels and superior service that you get in SA. You dont get "You alright there mate" over there.

Yes this is indeed utterly silly. When the original cricket World Cup was held in England, it was generally mooted that it should only be held in the UK,actually, because the weather was so variable, making it a fair chance of varied playing conditions for all.

giles2008 Turns out the IPL will be played in South Africa due to there being better weather over there at this time of year. No surprise there then.
