JK2006 I know this is trivial in the face of suffering but what is the name of those cakes with holes in the middle that taste of almonds?

The people there call it L'A - Quila (as opposed to your correspondents who call it L'Aqu-Ila).

Emma Bee Interesting that it is the modern buildings which collapsed. The older buildings remained standing. Suggests a major downgrade in construction standards.
JK2006 I know it well; only about 60 km from Rome; I've visited it several times; beautiful town.

They make those cakes there with a hole in the middle.

I do hope the earthquake damage is not too serious.
