david oops just correcting my post above- Eddie George was of course not a politician
david my Dad was a senior civil servant who worked with Eddie George, and has many a good word to say about him.

Other politicians he worked with who he has much admiration for are Ken Clarke and Shirley Williams.
giles2008 Former Governer of the Bank Of England. We may not remember his face but we all knew his signature.
