Irrelevant really. Bit like saying most taxpayers shop at Tesco's.

Angel BR, the BBC is funded by the licence payer not the taxpayer.
zooloo You usual interesting way of dealing with facts BR

What is the annual salary of an MP?
£64,766 as of 1 April 2009 Parliament.uk

It's not been £45k for some years. You really shouldn't believe everything you hear on the telly.

Oh... a newsreader's salary and an MPs are not actually connected.

Oh... newsreader's do a bit more than just turn-up to read the news. (though it's moot point, see above )
BR The average UK wage is £24,000 with the majority earning under £20,000.

League 2 footballers at Accrington have a basic wage of around £80 plus bonuses. League One clubs pay on average around £600 a week even with the big clubs in that division ( Leeds - Leicester )

£92K for reading something is very bad value for a public broadcaster. It is time the BBC had ALL its salaries in line with other public services like teachers and nurses. After all it is fully funded by the taxpayer.

If MPs only get £45,000 salary why should BBC employees get £92,000 for just doing their job. That is ridiculous money for a public servce broadcaster. I can understand it for "star performers" where they are rare ( Jonathan Ross - Paxman ) but for bog standard run of the mill newsreaders this is too much.
