Topic History of: Nobody with a brain cell cares about MP's expenses

JK2006 I've discovered, over 64 years, that the way to hook the dummies (most of the public) is 1) righteous indignation and 2) "how dare other people have more money than me?".

The Daily Mail realised that (Jonathan Ross was a great target for the very reason that he earns well, though probably far less than Paul Dacre). And all the others know it too. "MPs making money when I'm not - disgraceful".

But nobody cares about us murdering or jailing innocent people.
JK2006 I feel a bit like Marie Antoinette on this... let them eat cake.

I'm probably due a good haircut any day now.
BR I agree with JK.

Veritas - that is the best explanation I have read about the current situation. That is exactly what is happening and I think you have successfully put it into words. It frightens me - we have been sleepwalking towards this for years and the proverbial stuff is now beginning to hit the fan.

Whether David Cameron is strong enough to take this on and win is beyond me......no idea. Within our awful system he is the ONLY hope - much like Obama in the USA. BUT and it is a big BUT - the vested interests in the World ( Call them NWO or whatever ) seem to have such a stranglehold on the money supply they can make and break countries almost overnight if they so wish.

We ( and our leaders ) are slaves to these people. The whole World needs to wake up and we need a "Revolution - peaceful" to get rid of these rich people and their control. The system needs to be re-set ( As Gordon Brown tried to say and do at the G20 and failed I might add....)
JK2006 I think Cameron has been slimy and horrid jumping on the populist bandwagon and going with the meejah.

"I'm stricter than you are".

The reality is; it doesn't matter, it's a detail; when you want public self righteousness scream "How dare people make money?", especially when others aren't.

Animal Farm. All cunts are equal but some cunts are more equal than others.
veritas to be fair to JK-I believe the vast general public don't really care about politician's expenses, nor anything else for that matter.

For sure-their expenses have become a rort and they have been abusing the privilege whilst at the same time preaching to the great unwashed and those like the unemployed that they better pull their fingers out and get a job whilst pollies have their own noses stuck in the trough.

All we are seeing is what sensible people have known for years-the political class has become a utterley corrupt institution that turns the spotlight from themselves onto others further down the social scale and berates and blames them to avoid scrutiny of their own failures.

As polticians preside over a collapsing economy which they themselves helped along the path to destruction, through their failure to regulate, they engage in craven political witchhunts in which no-one is safe-from the so-called "sex offendors" to the disabled (inlcuding those who the politicians have moved off unemployement to massage figures) and then whilst lording over everyone else in this shambles they have created, legislated more and more laws to punish people at every level.

The day a roller blading pensioner was fined or a kid arrested for tossing an orange we know all sanity has gone out the window.

Laws are the opium of the political class.

The US is the same-with little to tell the difference from politicians in the US & UK apart.

Anyone who doubts that should seek out the vision of 10 year old Texan boy, accused of sexually assaulting his 7 year old cousin (in our day it was called 'doctors & nurses), shackled and brought into court in an orange jumpsuit by his tearful grandfather. The world has gone balmy.

And these politicians wouldn't have had a hope in these appaling abuses of those they govern without their parners in crime-the media.

But they are finding, again as any sensible person could have told them, that lying in the gutter with a treacherous beasts like the media was always bound to end in tears.

Anarchy and citizen journalism on the net is all that will save us.

Personally I'm all for tarring and feathering and once thought it shocking when the vile Ceausescus were bundled out and executed-now I see it saved a lot of time and effort.

I't be any different under Cameron either.

Britain isn't too disimilar to how Germany was under Hitler in the late 30's. Whilst everyone thought, and still believes mainly, that Hitler presided over a great German industrial revival, it simply wasn't true. The economy and government was a complete shambles briefly bosted by autobahns and armanents manufacturing but if the WW2 hadn't occured, Germany would have collapsed in a screaming heap producing nothing of saleable value.

The UK is almost at that stage-manufacturing has been destroyed and 'celebrity' is almost the only saleable commodity holding the place together. It won't last.
