Two of the main British contenders seem to be Ken Loach's "Looking for Eric", about Eric Cantana and a low-budget film called "fish tank" about a girl on an Essex council estate.
veritas
where on youtube ? links please JK !!
I've been to the Cannes Festival twice (and hope to go again) but I get the feeling it's really morphing into a very Academy Awards style event, very Holywood which in itself is begining to look a little tarnished in these days of fly by night celebrity.
The very European/French feel made it such a unique event-that feels like it may be slipping but surely JK, the whole idea is that "art films" will win prizes as opposed to blockbusters with the biggest advertising and promotional budgets.
How else will a brilliant film like "Control" about Joy Division get a much wider audience ?(and for that matter "Vile Pervert"-surely an art house film production..based on truth of course)

The main display is for a Christmas film and snow in May is bizarre in the South of France.
