interesting, robbie
I lived in Finland where they have a high suicide rate.
Contrary to what one might believe, although they have very dark winters, most suicides occur in spring, which in Finland is a sudden and spectacular display of colour and light.
I wonder why this is....

Apparently there are more suicides in the summer than the winter. Probably because depressed people see more people out and about enjoying themselves and thus it heightens their own feelings of loneliness.
Anyhow still its a great documentary.

a month back in London has me planning to go abroad quickly.
I was finally diagnosed with SAD..seasonally adjusted depression. Grey skies do my head in. I can handle the most freezing winter if the sun shines. A New York winter..the most bitter , is a breeze on a sunny day.
I go into exstasy in the English countryside in summer if the sun shines..I'm in heaven. There is nowhere better.
Another great programme from BBC 4. This time an insightfull and funny documentary about Britain's attitude to foreign holidays over the decades. Makes me yearn to go abroad again.
