Anthony	Well, I think an electrical connector for the heating system had gone wrong. There is a slight clue in the article. The fire started near a window, which is hardly the same as a window going on fire, which would indeed be quite mysterious. QANTAS recently outsourced the maintenance of their aircraft to a South-East Asian company. Ryanair execute dangerous landings to increase their turnaround. Thousands of Boeing 737's flew for years with a faulty servo valve in the rudder, which accounted for at least five fatal crashes. 747's flew with a faulty central fuel tank which could, and on at least two occasions did, explode given certain conditions. I am far from convinced that safety takes priority over profit in the world of air travel any more. No mystery or conspiracy but no less disturbing.
BR	After all the plane disappearances and fires yesterday we now have the weirdest of all news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8094388.stm A window goes on fire in an Airbus tonight. Is it me or is it unusual for windows to catch fire ? Anyone taking a flight in the next weeks ? What is going on ? Sorry to have posted two plane threads but I think this one justifies its own discussion. Anyone care to suggest what might have happened ?
