BR The report from the sub committee in Parliament has missed out much of the main evidence - Newsnight last night is worth watching on the I PLAYER if anyone wants to see a very intelligent debate about these reports.

This "not knowing the rules" is possibly a smokescreen.

An official review of the G20 protests in London has described the public order training given to police as "inadequate for the modern day".

The police watchdog's investigation is the result of a number of complaints - including some from photographers and reporters - about how they had been treated.

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary, Denis O'Connor, said some officers at the demonstrations in April were not sufficiently aware of human rights laws.

It seems to me that policing standards have plummeted over the past 10 years. It has to be connected with training in the first place.

The Hendon Training Centre was run by one of the best British cops ever-Commander Peter Ryan who the NSW government poached after a world-wide search to find someone capable enough to clean up what was regarded as one of the most corrupt police forces in the western world-a hangover from the days of a corrupt colony.

NSW now has a pretty good police force staffed by excellent young coppers who are polite and knowledgable at the same time (despite a few rare cock-ups)

For his efforts Peter Ryan was hounded out of the job by a cabal of right-wing politicians and shock jocks.

He now runs the Olympic Committee security-you can be guaranteed one thing at the 2012 London Olympics.

Despite it being the most expensive and useless event at least you will be safe.
