Anthony Funnily enough, I was talking to friends about these two songs only last weekend. They had never heard of Who's Been Polishing the Sun? I sang a few bars of it to them, but I understand they are all undergoing therapy and should be back to normal in a week or two.

They were interested enough to google the song title for more information, so the bill for the publicity is in the post, JK.
JK2006 I'm glad you mentioned this Ivor; it was actually my dear friend Richard Armitage who asked me on Stephen's behalf - Richard was Noel Gay's son and loved my version of his Dad's splendid song. But of course I didn't have to give permission though I did, naturally, saying I was a mere cog in the wheel and the talent and credit was totally Noel's.

As it happens I prefer Noel's other song which was the Nemo followup and can be found on Earth To King - Who's Been Polishing The Sun?
Ivor By "Noels choice" you surely mean Noel Gay who actually wrote this song and the rest of the music. Steven Fry merely revised the script for the 1985 version of the musical the book and lyrics of which were originally created in 1937 by Furber and Rose. I'm sure even the very creative Nemo had to pay publishing royalties to the Noel Gay estate and so why Steven Fry would seek permission from JK is very odd !
giles2008 Maybe it was Noels choice?
JK2006 Me and My Girl written by Stephen Fry who asked my permission to include it!
I had a big turntable hit with it under the name Nemo.
