Derby Council are the first to announce big cuts.

With Gordon Brown shown to have lied in Parliament about cuts this morning - we will see hundreds of thousands being sacked or jobs discontinued by councils in the UK.

Remember the real cuts have not started yet - the 10% cut in spending will happen after the election. So we could see another 6 million added to the unemployment statistic on the various registers by 2012/13.

The future looks very bleak. Last night on Newsnight the "experts" were very downbeat and said it will take decades to return to where we were in 2006/7.
