david this wasn't the case when I returned to the UK after 16 years' absence, but then I did go straight into paid employment when I got here so was paying taxes, NI etc. That was 9 years ago tho.
veritas a pensioner friend who has lived abroad for a few years says the rules have been changed so that anyone who has lived outside the UK for 3 years is no longer eligable to national health.

I can't see how a Brirtish citizen can be deprived of anything another is entitled to.
