Topic History of: Vitamin D3 selling out all round the UK !

Angel Went into local Holland & Barrat's to buy the elusive D3. Guess what? There was no shortage.
BR Totally right. I am only taking D3 because it is produced by SUNSHINE ! and that is in short supply during the winter if I lived in Italy or Egypt I would give it a miss.

Had a chat with a Nurse this afternoon about vitamins and she said one of the reasons many people take vitamins and get very little out of it is that sometimes you need to combine them to get the benefit. Which is worth considering if anyone is looking into supplements of any sort.

She agreed about either D3 or Cod liver oil as being one of the best. She mentioned Cod Liver Oil being taken with malt for instance.

I am still suprised that a health official can ignore the healthy eating advice on vitamins and say they are not important.
david I agree with you BR that a healthy diet and exercise are what counts, but I think if you do the above then vitamin supplements (B3 or otherwise) are unnecessary.

I take supplements if I know I have not been eating properly, and only then.

If I have been eating plenty of fruit and veg and some fat and carbohydrates, while making sure I exercise I see no need for any supplements. And I haven't had a cold in years.
BR Since the Daily Mail article last week - and the generally accepted view that D3 is a good defence against illness including Swine Flu - my local Pharmacy has sold out yet again ( third time in as many weeks ) also went to other places and they were sold out as well.

Looks as if D3 is going to be a big winner this Autumn and Winter.

It has also got the Government worried with one Health Authority issueing a letter to the BBC saying that VITAMINS dont help against illness !! See this crazy person who now suggests that taking vitamins is POTTY !

Funny how the Big Drug Companies are so angry about the public eating healthy and taking any type of supplement. They come out and rubbish it immediately.

Remember the Swine Flu vaccine is unproven - and will be full of side effects. We know that already from those who are making it. It should only be taken in extreme circumstances.

The best defence against ANY illness - is a healthy diet and exercise.

Shows that diet has a 30% + effect on our health including mental health. This is proven by research.

So listen to the research - not the POLITICAL VACCINE harbingers of doom.

I find it amazing that the BBC has published such a ridiculous comment that vitamins are "Potty"
