Topic History of: CCTV on the increase in France

david so it's not only the UK then....

I've just been watching a discussion on the excellent French tv programme "C'est Dans L'Air" (link below for those who understand French).

CCTV is now on the increase in many French towns and cities. President Sarkozy is in favour of rolling it out nationwide.

One good point is made in the tv debate- violent crime is on the decrease in France (as in the UK), but the installation of CCTV cameras is actually creating a feeling of fear in the general public, who now think that crime is on the increase.
