JC Pity we more amply supplied countries couldn't have helped them to build stronger homes and schools, etc. before an earthquake struck. Seems we only turn up after a major disaster when it's too late.

Of course, it may be that advice was offered but ignored.

Brown is sending money. Wouldn't it be better to send supplies to the value of that money. I wonder if the Presidential Palace will be rebuilt first, using said money. The EU can make itself useful, for a change, and jointly send unemployed builders, plus material and equipment, to construct a city more able to stand against any future natural disaster.

I know I'm being rather idealistic.
In The Know Haiti is a country where the USA already has troops - they approve of countries that "kow-tow" !

The response from the USA has been nothing short of brilliant.

This is what people expect from the USA - and it is good to see it.

Hopefully their troops will be pulled out of war zones and the World can once again respect this country again for what they do for us all.
