BR Not cynical - you have spotted what nearly everyone is now spotting. The Terror alert is basically meaningless. The only time it was downgraded since its start - we had 7.7. So it really is a waste of money and time. Embarassing.
The Cat British level of security is raised to 'Severe' shortly before the ex PM Tony Blair is due to be grilled by the Iraq Inquiry, with Gordon Brown also to be grilled in the weeks leading up to a general election. It just seems that whenever the government are facing an awkward, or embarrassing situation they bring out a new security scare. Coincidence?
