robbiex I haven't seen Alice in Wonderland or Avatar. I think really good films shouldn't need gimics like 3d to make it work. The viewer should be drawn into the film's storyline and characters. The film shouldn't come out and grab the viewer. I wouldn't mind seeing Alice in Wonderland because it is a classic story with magical characters, however I can't really relate to a film about blue aliens. As Morrissey once said, it says nothing to me about my life.
JK2006 My brother and oldest nephew went last night and loved it too.
Blackit I'm going to see it this week. 3D is an amazing experience and Avatar was (literally) out of this world.
JK2006 I'm a big Burton fan when he's good (since Edward Scissorhands) and hate him when he gets self indulgent. This is magic and really works in 3D (the rabbit hole is fabulous). I hated the books when I reread them last year - badly written rubbish - but Burton has taken the brilliant characters (Tenniel was better than Carrol) and put them in a good story - with nods to Narnia, Potter, Pullman, and many others.
robbiex Well jk, what makes this film so different to that other Tim Burton film adapted from a children's book "Charlie and the chocolate factory", which you hated!!! Apart from the fact that it is in 3D.
