robbiex Thanks Pru. I've only seen one film on it so far which was called the Box and was awfull. As far as the picture quality is concerned, I could hardly tell the difference between this and a dvd. However this may have something to do with the fact that the film was set in the 70's and they have put some sort of sepia filter on the camera to give it an old look.

I also have the Hurt Locker on blu-ray, which I will see later. I think this will give a better illustration of the power of blu-ray. I was looking in HMV yesterday and thinking that the choice of blu-ray titles is stil relatively small, however I'm sure this will rapidly increase.

The only problem with getting blu-ray disks is that you can't then play them on the spare tv, or on laptops for long journeys. Hey it plays dvds too and upscales them so it is future proof and also copes with your old disks.
Prunella Minge That sounds a good choice, Robbie. I hope you enjoy it!
giles2008 If you love movies then you will not regret your decision to go Blu. There are some terrific discs out there and loads of goodies to come. Band Of Brothers is a real stunner in both quality and price (less than twenty quid on Amazon). Planet Earth is wonderful and Alien Anthology, Sound of Music and Last of the Mohicans are due before Christmas. If however you want to see what Blu can do to an old classic then check out Wizard Of Oz. It is astonishingly beautiful.

Thanks for the advice Pru, I eventually went for this one, as I like LG as a make, I find them very reliable and offer good value for money. Sony are very good too, although you sometimes have to pay a bit more.

Sadly I had to buy the hdmi cable seperately, which is a bit of a con.
Prunella Minge I haven't got one yet as I first need to upgrade my TV to HD. This is the one I'd fancy, though, at a lowish price:

It does look like you need to get the cable separately.
