Dex I agree with all the above comments. The lovely characters were a joy to watch - they made me sad and happy with them and I found myself actually laughing out loud with Dickie Bird - what a gorgeous man he is. I hope their new lease of life continues because they all have so much to offer.
JK2006 Exactly Pru; and why isn't Jameson writing a weekly column for The Guardian on getting old? Why isn't Lionel choreographing? Why isn't Sylvia looking after kids as well as promoting old age use? And I'd be delighted to hear Kenneth Kendall's wonderful voice tell me the news or Dickie Bird comment on cricket.

The fault is with youth and image obsessed society which genuinely feels we all prefer bimbos.

I think this series may have seriously beneficial repercussions.
Prunella Minge Very moving, inspiring, programme. But I thought one of the most telling bits was when Jameson went to the journalism school to lecture - why aren't people like him invited as a matter of course? There are loads of great BBC producers and directors who could come back once a month to sit in on a meeting and give some insights. So many really talented people have experience that could be used but they're usually ignored. Use it!
JK2006 I reckon this series has been one of the best things on TV this year but it's also been very important; it's shown intelligent TV can also be entertaining; it's shown old people can be magical on screen; it's made us all fall in love with all 6 characters (yes, even Lionel); it's often been deliberately non-PC and it's gotten away with it (hoorah) because old people are allowed to be non PC; well filmed; great editing; even Mariella was super.

Magnificent, magical series.
Dex Absolutely loving this programme.
