Funnily enough I watched an old rerun of Upstairs, Downstairs and the plot and characterisations are very similar - sardonic butler, fat cook, dim maid etc. Still a market for this kind of drama. |

Yes, it's good fun. I get the impression they worked on the general idea, and then the cast, then the characters and only finally the storyline, but that's probably the only way it could be sold in the first place. It's certainly a refreshing change from endless contemporary crime dramas. |

I'm completely in love with this series; it is so incredibly well done - it views like the best of BBC Sunday drama yet it's ITV (I suspect Peter Fincham deserves the credit).
