After hearing Fireflies on the radio (before it was in the chart) I liked the track and went to HMV to buy it. The assistant had never heard of it and it was not on the chart singles shelf (what a sad affair that is these days). I asked if they could order it and they said to look it up and order it online and collect in store.
I used to love buying chart music. The wall of music in Our Price that was the top 75 and 'new releases'. I used to see music that interested me and then choose something sometimes not even hearing it. |

This was such a low key event it's hard to believe that tens of thousands of votes were cast. Did the website that was collecting the votes have safeguards to ensure there wasn't multiple votes from the same ip address? |

I really liked Katy Perry even though she is completely manufactured.
But then I really like Justin Beiber so what would I know? |

This came under the radar this year. I remember a few years ago when your good self organised it, it became a major itv show. There have been very few good singles this year, my favourites been "The Flood" by Take That, firework by Katy Perry and Seelo Green's "Forget You".
Do we really need to be voting on what is the single of the year. Surely the one that sold the most copies will be the single of the year, if it is based on the public vote. |

Fireflies - from Owl City.
After tens of thousands of votes beating Lady GaGa in second place, then Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, Eminem and Rihanna and Katy Perry. |
