veritas settling down to watch the last Prime Suspect series on DVD..why do we all love crime shows so much ?

Can't really sit through US crime shows except for a few rare goodies but love every crime film that comes out of the UK and eagerly await the latest Ruth Rendell.

There is a whole genre of UK British female writers churning out murder novels set in the UK. I love them..especially Rendell's as the characters seem so much like people I have known all my life.

Lap up any series about real life murderers...serial killers ..Dr Shipman etc.

The fact is we can't live without salivating over crime tales in the media..whether real or not (still got a soft spot for Midsommer Murders despite everyone in the county now apparently murdered).

Politicians love to make us think that one day there will be no crime..a fantasy..rather than just accept it as it is and cope the best way possible..administering justice...finding relief for victims and so on.

But no need for jury on this one...everybody loves reading about crime and if there was no crime we would be bored stiff !!
